After a long travel night, we have finally arrived on Spanish land, we have landed in Madrid and here our journey offically begins.

We took a train from the airport of Adolfo Suarez Barajas to Puerta del Sol. Puerta del Sol is a very famous square, where you can find the centre - kilometer 0 - of all the radial network of Spanish roads, you can also admire here the famous clock - on The New Year's evening many people would wait in front of the tower with twelve grapes in their hand and as soon as the first bell rings, they have to eat one grape, with every strike, each strike represents one of the upcoming months.

From there, we walked through the streets of Madrid. We saw Plaza Mayor, which was once the center of Old Madrid, we continued until we were in front of a huge cathedral - Almudena Cathedral. The cathedral of Saint Mary the Royal of the Almudena is a catholic cathedral, we can say that it is a young, newly built cathedral. Its construction began in 1883 nad finished more than a century later in 1993. It is located in front of the Royal Palace, which was our next stop. The Royal Palace of Madrid is the official residence of the royal family, although they do not live there anymore. Nowdays the Palace is just used for state ceremonies. The Palace amazed us, it was huge and very beautiful. We carried on our tour, we walked through a park with the Cervantes monument, we stopped for lunch and afterwards we had to go back to the airport.

That was our amazing first day.

¡Hasta mañana!
